Got the idea to put together a body goals vision board after listening to one of those motivational videos featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger discussing what he did to motivate himself.

In this particular video, he shared how he’d put up magazine cut outs and photos of his favorite body builders and physiques.

So I decided to browse through Instagram, gather me some inspo, and make a vision board just for my body goals.

Here’s how I put it together plus some tips that have improved results you might find helpful as well.

Find fitness inspiration on Instagram for my desired look

The first thing I did was browse Instagram for fitness inspiration. I gathered women with bodies similar to my shape and what I’m going for.

Search hashtags like #bodygoals #fitnessmotivation #fitnessgirl and check out one of the top profiles. Then check out the suggested profiles from that profile. Instagram usually will suggest more fitness accounts.

The ones I follow for inspiration are: chaneldelisser, xscape2paradise, melanincrushdaily, melaninfitspiration, fitfortheculture, motivatebodyfitness, and tc_fitness_ .

Screenshot and save your body goals + layout using an editor

Take screenshots or save images from these accounts of your body goals. Sounds a bit sneaky, maybe even a little creepy, but you’re not doing anything with these photos but adding them to a board for your PERSONAL inspiration so it’ll be fine. 🙂

This is what mine looked like when I was finished:

Print your pictures on sticker paper or print on regular paper and glue to your poster board

Then stick your board where you can see it.

Tips for Creating a Vision Board That’ll Actually Work for You

Be in a good, optimistic, or good-ish feeling mood:

You don’t have to be the happiest on the block, but it does definitely help to create your vision board from a good place. Feeling good creates more good including a good vision board and good outcomes from that vision board. It’s science. Ok, well not science, but definitely something I know works.

Ask yourself if your goals are really in alignment with your values:

Setting value-based goals greatly improves your ability to stick with your goals and get rid of the goals that aren’t in alignment with your values. Sometimes our struggle with self-discipline and consistency has to do with not identifying what values motivate and inspire us. When we know our values, we’ve got the gas to move on hard days and the wisdom to not waste our time on goals that look good but aren’t good for us.

Before looking for inspiring and motivating images, reevaluate your goals to ensure they’re really for you.

Write your goals as if they are already yours and take on that vibe of ownership:

I look at my vision board and get excited about what’s on it as if I’m looking at my Amazon cart of shipped items on the way. They are in the bank. I don’t hope, yearn, or wish. I know. Taking on that vibe of ownership, speaking in present tense about goals, being thankful, and appreciating them now are Law of Attraction 101 lessons that actually work. Don’t sleep on this important step!

Also, the act of writing down your goals gets them into your subconscious. According to Brian Tracy, this “programs them deep into your subconscious mind where they take on a life and power of their own.”
