The first time I got put on a diet, I was a 14-year-old weighing 245 pounds and heading into my first year of high school. I’m 5’4.
How did I get to 245-lbs?
I grew up eating all types of highly processed foods, eating out weekly, drinking plenty of soda, and struggling through PE.
When I was finishing up 8th grade, my mom decided to start experimenting and put herself, my brother, and I on an Atkin-ish diet.
It worked. We lost weight and quick. But then life happened, we moved 2 hours away, and we stopped that diet.
At 14-years-old, I had no clue that would be one of the MANY diets I’d try in search of something I could stick with that’ll give me results.
Since then, I’ve tried…
Eating one grapefruit a day.
The Master Cleanse.
Eating vegetarian. Eating vegan. Being a raw foodist.
Eating one large salad a day.
Drinking one meal-replacement shake a day.
Doing the Liver Cleanse diet.
Eating a Metabolic Typing diet.
Doing a Fat Flush diet.
Eating low-fat foods, counting calories, and controlling portions to eat under 1500 cals in a day.
Eating 6 small meals a day to keep my metabolism up.
And I’ve also tried building an altar, creating a vision board, visualization, writing “I weigh 150 lbs” 10 times each morning, and meditation.
Things got interesting, to say the least.
I lost and gained weight a few times. Eventually I stumbled upon the paleo community and ancestral health sphere.
It turns out MANY people struggle with these diets and tips because they’re based on bad science, myths, miseducation, and misconceptions.
This is where I found out the diets and tips we struggled with were whack.
They’re diets and tips that actually increase appetite, cause cravings, and lower energy while requiring us to eat less and exercise more for them to work.
Once I ditched them, I lost a total of 75 lbs while eating paleo and then transitioning to keto with intermittent fasting.
I started sharing my journey online to help other women and became a certified weight loss coach. Sharing what didn’t work and what does.
Hoping I can save someone from wasting any more time with whack diets and weight loss tips.
Now, I’m working on new weight loss goals. Together, let’s get healthy and achieve our body, fitness, and weight loss goals.
